Categories section allows you to organize items by type or classification. Grouping products into categories makes it easier to browse, search, and manage inventory.
Accessing Categories
- Open your Dashboard
- Navigate to Inventory > Categories
Add New Categories
To add a new category, click on the '+' button
The following fields are required to create a category
| Field | Required | Usage |
| Name | Yes | The name of the category |
| Parent Category | Optional | The parent category for this category |
| Channel Group | Optional | Restrict the category to selected sales channel |
| Image | Optional | The image representing the category |
Delete Categories
To remove categories from the system:
- Select the category (or categories) to delete
- Click on More Actions
- Select Delete Selected
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Note:
Deleting a parent category will also delete all of its child categories. Review the category structure before deleting.
Example - Deleting of Child Category
In the example above, only the category Air Fryer will be removed from the Home Appliance category
Example - Deleting of Parent Category
In this example, all the categories associated with Home Appliance category will be deleted.
Export Categories
To export category information to an Excel file:
- Click on More Actions
- Select Export Data
An Excel file containing all categories will be generated for saving or future use.
Import Categories
The import feature allows you to quickly add or update categories:
- Prepare an Excel file containing the required category data
- Click on More Actions
- Select Import Data
- Upload your Excel file
The system will automatically create new categories or update existing ones based on the information provided.
Notes
- Leave the
category_idfield blank to create a new category- Providing a
category_idwill update the existing category with that ID- Always review and verify the Excel file before importing to ensure all data are accurate, complete, and correctly formatted to prevent errors during import.
