This guide walks you through how to properly set up your items in Equotix One for a hawker-style POS setup.
Recommended Hawker POS Setup Principles
Before diving in, here are a few best practices for hawker environments
- Keep item name short and clear
- Use options instead of creating multiple duplicate items
- Price differences should be handled via options, not separate items
- Group similar items together for quick access
1. Creating Your Items (Main Dishes)
Each menu item should be created as a single item in Equotix One.
Example Menu
- Chicken Rice
- Laksa
- Wanton Mee
- Char Kway Teow
Steps
- Go to Dashboard
- Navigate to Inventory > Items
- Click the '+' (Add Item) button
Item Setup Guidelines
In this example, we are going to create an entry for chicken rice.
| Field | Example |
| Name | Chicken Rice |
| Model | Give it a generic model number (e.g. 0001) |
| SKU | Give it a generic SKU number (e.g. 0001) |
| Price | Base price (e.g. $4.50) |
| Category | Group similar items (e.g. Rice, Noodles) |
Tips:Do not create separate items like "Chicken Rice (Large)" or "Chicken Rice (Extra Chicken)". This should be handled using Options
